Oils
gaining more and more popularity
The
recent boom of oils in beauty care is astonishing. These days oils
are added to almost to all kinds of cosmetics: mascara, face
creams, body washes etc. Sometimes producers use them only as a
catchy marketing word I have even seen argan oil on the label of
washing-up liquid, while it did not have this ingredient in the
ingredient list! Today I am going to focus on how you can add
oils to your skin care routine – more specifically - how to take
care of your face using oils, including which oils are appropriate to
a specific skin type.
Fighting
oily skin with.. more oil
A
lot of girls who have combination or oily skin took this concept in
stride. I used to be one of them. I chose products advertizing
themselves as ''matting'', ''mattifying''. In the end my skin
used to be dry and oily at the same time. However, oils can actually
control the sebum production and a lot of people claim that oils
helped them achieve the desired skin balance.
How exactly can
they help your face?
Linoleic acid is an unsaturated fatty acid.
When our face is deficient in this acid, the sebum of our skin
becomes sticky and thick, clogging pores and creating acne as a
result. We can combat this problem by using oils high in linoleic
acid: soybean oil, grape seed oil etc.
Best oils for
combination/oily skin:
-jojoba
oil
-linseed oil
-walnut oil
-argan oil
- grape seed oil
-soybean oil
Best
oils for dry/normal skin
-avocado oil
- argan oil
- coconut oil
-
almond oil
- rice oil
Such
oil can be used instead of face cream. The other alternative is OCM
(Oil Cleansing Method) - a way of removing make up.
There
is no such thing as ''the best oil'', since our skin is different
andneeds different things. I think that the key to using face oils
is... testing. Sometimes the one that is supposed to work for your
skin type makes no difference and the one that falls in the different
category allows you to achieve great reslts. I tried argan oil and I
saw LITERALLY no results while for someone it can turn out to be one
of the best cosmetics ever. Therefore, the lists above should be
threated as guidelines, not a gospel.
Have
you had any experience with face oils? Which ones do you recommend?
